The ReGroup DVD study is a great tool for your small group to go through together whether you're meeting for the first time or are a seasoned group. What I've appreciated most about this study is the practical tools that Cloud, Donahue, and Townsend bring up that are sometimes overlooked. I appreciated their helpful tools on how to deal with conflict in your group, how to lovingly confront a person's sin or flaws, the importance of being an active listener to those who have the floor, and telling your story without going on and on. All of these issues, without a doubt, arise in group time so it's really important to be prepared for when they come. I don't think this resource would be what it is without the drama vignettes of people “acting out” group time and solving some of the issues that arise. It was really neat to see the issues played out and what the best strategies are to handle them. At the end of the DVD, there is a section for "Extended Tips" and I’d recommend that you take a look at those as well. They integrate Scripture into the tips and that's very helpful to see from a biblical perspective. Cloud, Donahue, and Townsend speak on this DVD as they're all in casual conversation together and that you're apart of it. The only minor detail I had a problem with at the beginning were some of the camera shots and angles (they made me dizzy!). And some of the sessions sometimes felt a little drawn out (10 minutes or so) but I think it's just because the DVD style is a conversational feel. I highly recommend this product to small group leaders who want their group to "get it" and begin to focus on gelling as a group. I think leaders who don't start off with a resource like this will end up having problems they otherwise could have at least been prepared for.
